A FASHION boutique which has attracted shoppers from across the UK is celebrating its fourth birthday.

Want That Dress, based on Market Place in Prescot, is marking four years in business this week after growing from a lockdown start‑up into a popular town centre boutique with a loyal following.

The independent store was launched online during the Covid‑19 pandemic by former teacher Jane McNally before opening its bricks‑and‑mortar premises in Prescot.

Since then, it has built a reputation for selling distinctive, one‑off clothing and accessories, with customers travelling long distances to visit the shop.

Posting on social media earlier this week, a store spokesperson reflected: "What a lovely day we had yesterday, celebrating our 4th birthday at Want That Dress!

"We were run off our feet and our beautiful boutique was bursting with happiness! Thank you to everyone who popped by to wish us well! It’s always a great sign when you run out of Prosecco!

"Here’s to another year at number 7! Xx"

Jane previously told the Star that the business quickly exceeded her expectations.

“It just snowballed,” she said. “Like many people, I started an online business during lockdown doing something that I love – fashion. For things to grow and to have my own gorgeous boutique is a dream, and I’ve built a great community of women and regular customers here.”

The boutique stocks inclusive fashion in sizes 8 to 24, offering everything from everyday wear to statement pieces and occasion outfits. Jane also sources collections from around the world, often travelling to find unique items for the shop.

“I love the adventure of it,” she said. “There’s nothing better than finding that one beautiful piece that I know my customers will absolutely adore.”

She added that strong relationships with suppliers and customers had been key to the store’s success.

“I have some wonderful suppliers who I’ve built a great relationship with over the past few years, but I’m always keeping my eyes open for new opportunities whilst on my travels,” she said.

As Want That Dress celebrates its fourth birthday, the boutique continues to play an active role in Prescot’s community, hosting events and supporting charitable causes, including its annual fashion show in aid of breast cancer charity Breast Mates.

The milestone comes amid ongoing regeneration in Prescot town centre, with independent businesses such as Want That Dress helping to attract visitors and boost footfall.
