RESIDENTS in Newton-le-Willows were hit by a loss of power overnight into the early hours of this morning.

The outage affected homes in the area of Acorn Street and Poplar Avenue.

Electricity North West worked to restore power in the area.

Power was restored at 4.16am today.

Residents in the area state this is the third time time in the last fortnight that they have lost electricity.

In a statement online, Electricity North West said: "The electricity in your area has been restored.

"The power cut was caused by an unexpected incident on our underground cable that provides your supply."

The affected postcodes were: WA12 8JZ, WA12 8LD, WA12 8LF, WA12 8LE
