A MAN charged with rape has made a first appearance before a court.
As the Star reported last week, Habibul Haque, 44, was charged in March in connection with an alleged rape at a premises in St Helens.
The charge was brought as part of an ongoing investigation, police say.

Haque appeared before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Thursday, April 24.
Magistrates sent the case to Liverpool Crown Court.
Haque was remanded back into custody and is due to next appear before the higher court on Thursday, May 22.
