A STRETCH of the M62 in St Helens was closed following reports of a collision.
The motorway was closed Westbound late on Sunday night due to accident from junction 7 at Rainhill Stoops to junction 6 of the M57 at Tarbock Island.
In a statement National Highways North West said: “The M62 is closed westbound between Junction 7 (St Helens) and Junction 6 (M57) due to a collision.
“North West Motorway Police are in attendance.
“Delays are likely on approach to the closure and diversion routes.”
Diversion Route Road users are advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol on road signs: * Exit the M62 at J7 and take the 2nd exit on to the A557 southbound * At Widnes, turn right on to the A562 westbound * At Newstead Farm Interchange take the 3rd exit off the roundabout onto the A5300 northbound * Continue onto the M57 northbound * Re-join the M62 at J6
