A MAN was arrested by police before a large officer presence was reported on a residential street.
A police van, three police cars and 20 officers carried out a search of an address on Pasadena Avenue in Chapelford, Warrington, on Wednesday at around 5pm.
Officers from Merseyside Police reportedly remained in the area until around 4pm the following day, eyewitnesses said.
The force has now confirmed that suspected stolen vehicles and parts have been seized, with a Burtonwood man arrested earlier on suspicion of acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.
This followed a police stop of a van in Burtonwood, which was first sighted in St Helens, where a large quantity of cash and other items seized.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that officers have been in Cheshire carrying out enquiries in connection with an ongoing investigation.
“On Tuesday, August 27, a Volkswagen Caddy van was sighted in St Helens.
“The vehicle was stopped in Harlech Close, Burtonwood, due to having no insurance, and a large quantity of cash and other items were seized.
“Further enquiries were carried out at premises in Gaskell Street, St Helens, and Pasadena Avenue, Warrington, from which suspected stolen vehicles and parts were seized.
“Enquiries remain ongoing.
“A 35-year-old man from Burtonwood was arrested on suspicion of acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.
“He was taken into custody for questioning and has since been bailed.”
