The works will affect motorists and recycling collections.
In a statement, St Helens Council said: “Windle Street will be closed to vehicles 24/7 for a duration of 5 days “Access to and from properties in Morello Close will also be restricted.
“The one-way system on Stanhope Street will be revoked during this period as access cannot be gained from Windle Street.
“As a result, there will be no recycling & waste collections during the time of the roadworks. This affects Windle Street, Stanhope Street, Morello Close, Argyle Street, Morley Street, Russet Close and Atherton Street.
“Once the roadworks have been completed, please present containers at your normal collection point.”
