POLICE were called out to a concern for the safety of a man who was on a railway bridge on Wednesday evening.
Emergency services attended the area of Ropers Bridge, near to Whiston railway station, at around 9pm.
A police spokeswoman said a man was found and taken to hospital under the Mental Health Act.
The Merseyside Police spokeswoman said they were called to "a concern for the safety of a man reported at 9pm on Ropers Bridge".
She added: "Dragons Lane was closed while incident was dealt with.
"He was found and taken to hospital for assessment under the MHA."

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added: "Fire crews were called to Ropers Bridge last night and were assisting police colleagues.
"Crews were alerted at 9.12pm and on scene at 9.17pm with two fire engines in attendance.
"Crews left the scene at 10.19pm."
