POLICE have explained why they attended St Helens town centre this afternoon, Thursday.
Residents reported to the Star seeing police vehicles and officers on Corporation Street, across the road from St Helens Bus Station, near to Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Officers were called to the area shortly after 2.30pm this afternoon.
When asked about this, a Merseyside Police spokeswoman said it related to "a concern for safety of a man".
