POLICE have received a report of car doors being tried in attempted overnight thefts.
Officers say the attempted thefts took place on Peartree Crescent and Oak Avenue, in Newton-le-Willows, in the early hours of Monday and Tuesday.
Police inquiries into the reports are ongoing, a spokesman said.

The Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that we have received several reports of attempted thefts from vehicles in the Newton-le-Willows area over the past few days.
"It was reported that a male had been trying door handles of cars parked on Peartree Crescent and Oak Avenue in the early hours of the morning on Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18.
"Inquiries are ongoing into the reports.
