THE return of St Helens' town centre music festival is said to have gone down a treat.

Following a four-year hiatus of Westfield Street Festival, a revamped festival was organised by local businesses last summer, which brought a big boost to the town centre.

Aiming to replicate the success of last year, the music festival returned on Sunday, June 9, as several acts took to the stage across various town centre venues.

This involved the Citadel, Imperial Quarter, Church Bar, the Sefton, the Vault, and Cinema Bar, and brought a "fantastic atmosphere" in spite of the wet weather.

It is hoped that the music festival can become an annual fixture on the local calendar, helping to boost town centre venues and promote the local music scene.

One of the organisers of the festival said: "Despite the weather, it was a brilliant turnout for the town centre music festival.

"The atmosphere was fantastic and everyone had a great time.

"We would like to thank all of the artists and customers across our venues and we can't wait to do it again."
