A PANCREATIC cancer specialist nurse has been selected to take part in a gruelling 100km trek with celebrities like Giovanna Fletcher and Strictly’s Amy Dowden to raise funds for a breast cancer charity.

Mum-of-two Nicola Murphy from Crank will be donning her walking boots and heading to the Brecon Beacons next month to take part in Coppafeel’s week-long trek.

The 45-year-old decided to sign up to raise as much awareness as possible of cancer and getting treatment early.

She said: “I work for Pancreatic Cancer Uk but the trek is for Coppafeel, another charity that I feel strongly about as I work in the field of cancer and I think its important to raise awareness and funds for all of them as vital research can help so many.

St Helens Star:

“I was really excited to learn I’ve been selected and that my captain is Faye Winter from Love Island, I think it’s really amazing to take part in something like this and it helps others.

“I’ve been practising a lot, doing the Yorkshire Peaks and other treks with friends to get me used to it and part of the goal is to each raise £2,250.

“To do that I’ve got a fundraising page but I’m also running a raffle with amazing prizes kindly given all to help me make the target.

“Any help really would help so much and go towards Coppafeel’s amazing work.”
