A 27-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested for numerous driving offences after a serious crash in St Helens.

At around 10.30pm on Friday, May 3, a crash was reported to have taken place along Helena Road in Sutton.

It is reported that a BMW X4 vehicle collided with several parked cars and then a Ford Focus taxi, around the the junction with Reginald Road.

Following reports of the collision, the emergency services attended and four people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Helena Road was also closed in both directions at the time of the incident, which has since reopened to motorists.

Confirming the details of the reported collision, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said that a 27-year-old man from St Helens has been arrested following an investigation into the crash.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit, and driving whilst unfit through drink.

Police say he remains in police custody waiting to be questioned.

Officers also confirmed that they are still appealing for witnesses, and are asking anyone who may have captured the incident on CCTV or dash camera footage to please get in touch and assist the investigation.
