A THREE-YEAR-OLD girl who was pulled from a lake in Lea Green on Saturday is now in a "serious but stable condition", police say. 

Police officers rushed to the scene close on Waterside Village on Saturday, April 6 before rescuing the toddler from the water.

She was given CPR before paramedics arrived and taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, in Liverpool.

On Saturday, a spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: "Officers rescued the child from the lake near to Shirebrook Close at about 2.22pm after a report had been made at 2.11pm that a little girl had managed to get out of a house nearby.

"Officers performed CPR prior to the arrival of paramedics and the Air Ambulance.

"The child has been take to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where she is being treated and her family are with her."

When asked for an update this morning, Monday, a police spokeswoman said the girl "remains in hospital in a critical condition."

The Star has regularly asked for updates on the little girl's condition, but today has been told that she is improving and her condition is now considered "serious but stable".
