A WEATHER warning for strong winds is in place for Saturday, residents are being advised.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning from 8am to 10pm April 6, stating there could be disruption.

The alert states that a deep area of low pressure will bring "a spell of very windy weather to western areas this weekend".

The warning is in place across Merseyside.

According to the Met Office there is:

- A small chance that some roads and bridges could close or impose restrictions

- A slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage

- There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties

- There is a small chance of longer, or even cancelled journeys, as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected

The forecast states it is expected to be bright, with the possibility of showers, and gusts of winds through the day.
