A PAIR of brothers have set themselves a gruelling three peaks challenge this summer - and have piled on the difficulty by adding weighted vests.

After being involved in several charitable challenges in their youth, Ethan and Lewis Hall Lyon have always maintained a desire for fitness and competition, while also looking to help others.

As the pair have grown older, they have increasingly looked to expand their challenges and they have committed to taking on the UK Three Peaks in under 24 hours this summer.

To make the challenge harder and raise further awareness of their cause, the pair have agreed to tackle the summits whilst wearing rucksacks and 20kg weighted vests.

As the 23-year-old and 17-year-old brothers have had family members who have had cancer, the brothers have decided to take on the challenge for the Northern Centre for Cancer Care and shared their challenge in the online 'People of St Helens' group this week.

This charity funds several other cancer foundations such as the Great North Children's Hospital Foundation, Charlie Bear for Cancer Care and Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Ethan said: "Me and Lewis used to do coast to coast challenges with our dad when we were younger, and we are very competitive and love a challenge.

"We know that cancer affects so many families and the charity we have chosen has a really wide reach, so we thought it was a great cause to link it with."

With Ethan and Lewis' dad set to help with the peak's transport on July 18, the pair are already more than halfway towards reaching their £2000 target thanks to some "very generous donations".
