WITH the Bank Holiday and a Good Friday home derby, many Saints fans will be heading to pubs and bars across the town ahead of the match.

Venues are set to be busier than normal with the game at the Totally Wicked Stadium a complete sell-out, kicking off at 3pm.

Here is a look at just five of the venues a walking distance from the stadium that fans will be heading for to help settle the nerves ahead of the annual fixture between the great rivals.

The Nelson

Based on Bridge Street, the Nelson is a popular spot for Saints fans. Adorned with the club's colours the venue is also a short walk from the Totally Wicked Stadium and a favourite among fans.

 

The Sefton Arms

Another regular spot for fans is the Sefton Arms on Baldwin Street. 

The boozer underwent a renovation in 2019 and is a popular option for pubgoers in the town centre.

Little George Street Quarter

The Little George Quarter is a “cosy” café and wine bar on George Street, St Helens with an upstairs sports bar.

The bar celebrated its first anniversary earlier this year.

Glass House

The Wetherspoons pub is always bustling on match day with fans heading in ahead. Situated at Church Square, there is sure to be a lively atmosphere before fans make the short trek to the stadium. 

The Glass Horse

The Sherdley Road pub is another spot nearby to the stadium in which fans can enjoy a pre-match drink. 

The Glass Horse Hungry Horse underwent a six-figure refurbishment in 2019.

With the match a sell-out no doubt there will be many heading to venues across the town to watch the action on TV.
