RESUBMITTED plans to create electric vehicle charging stations at a hotel car park have been approved.

Proposals seeking permission for the installation of six electric vehicle charging stations at the Holiday Inn Haydock site, on Lodge Lane, Haydock, were sent in to the council.

The plans were submitted by applicant PoGo Charge and sought to install six electric vehicle chargers, and carry out associated works, on the hotel car park.

A planning officer's report stated the application "is a re-submission (of earlier plans) which consisted of the installation of six electric vehicle charging stations and associated works.

"The proposal submitted is the same, however, the power units, feeder pillar, and substation has been repositioned to an alternative location away from the root protection area of the adjacent trees."

Planning officer Alex Ball added in the report: "The development comprises of six EV charging stations (three CT+ and three CP7). The charging stations are located within the existing car park creating 12 EV charging parking bays.

"The CT+ charging stations measures 690mm in width, 405mm in depth, and 2000mm in height. Whilst the CT7 charging stations measures 446mm in width, 234mm in depth, and 1544mm in height".

It was added "the proposed associated equipment cabinets and paraphernalia, due to their size and scale, would ensure that the proposal does not overly dominate the nearby structures or the hotel itself.

"The site is relatively concealed from public vantage points. Given the size and location of the proposed charging points and associated equipment in the context of the site, it is considered that there will be no significant impact upon visual amenity.

Considering the development in the local context would not be an undue or dominant addition to the site. It is considered that the development would comply with policy LPD01 of the St Helens LP (Local Plan."
