A MIDDLE Eastern restaurant has joined the flurry of independent eateries on Bridge Street.
Following in the footsteps of the likes of Vigour and Kung Fu, the latest independent venture to open is Sham, a restaurant specialising in Shawarma and grilled food.
It is owned by Mo Amin, who has previously run the business in Accrington before moving it to St Helens.
He said: “The recipes are family ones and have been in some cases in my family for 60 plus years and we are proud to stick to those original recipes and offer them to the people of St Helens.
“If you are unsure of what to order people can come and if they don’t know what something is we will let you sample a bit so you can decide before you get it but so far the Shawarma is a favourite.
“We’ve been open for a month now and we recently got a five star food hygiene rating too so we are really proud of that and all of our 52 reviews on Tripadvisor are positive which is a good thing for us.
“The support from the public has been really good and I urge everyone to come and give us a try.”
The venue is open from 11.30am to 9pm on Bridge Street.
