PLANS to create a vehicle access roadway at a popular burial site have been drawn up.

A bid to create an internal vehicular access roadway at Greenacres Woodland Burials, on Blindfoot Road, Rainford, has been sent to council planners.

Previous plans to extend the ceremony hall at the location and create a new burial lawn were approved in 2022.

A design and access statement in the new plans by agents The CDS Group on behalf of Greenacres says: "The proposal would look to reposition the previously approved roadway inside the site.

"This will no longer be constructed, as the applicant wants to extend this roadway into the meadow ride to allow more efficient access to burial areas.

"It is The CDS Group’s understanding, that precedence for the proposed roadway has been set, therefore, it would be an acceptable addition to the site."

It concludes: "The access roadway will improve the functionality of the site ensuring that burials are carried out with ease.

"The proposal would allow greater interconnectivity within the site.

"The proposed meadow ride access roadway would utilise materials which are consistent with existing surfacing, ensuring the site will remain a tranquil setting for the bereaved and local community."

The plans are on public consultation until Monday, March 25 with a determination deadline set for April 22.
