A CAR dealership has handed a huge cash boost to a host of good causes.

Last summer the Chapelhouse board of directors set aside £40,000 with the aim of supporting local charities.

It was the task of the company's customers to nominate the charities which they felt deserved the funds the most.

More than 2,500 responses poured in, giving the Chapelhouse team the task of whittling down the charities to a shortlist of eight.

Now, each of the good causes chosen has received £5,000 from the overall fund, with organisations that operate in the same areas as the company chosen.

Among those receiving a donation, is St Helens and Knowsley's Willowbrook Hospice, which offers care for patients and vital support for families.

Teardrops St Helens, a community support centre located in the town centre, also benefits from a donation which will help their social hub, distribution centre and night café.

Wigan & Leigh Hospice and Wigan Youth Zone were also selected along with The Brick Wigan,  which has been supporting communities for more than a century, under various guises.

Meanwhile, Warrington Youth Zone, which is part of the same network of Onside Youth Zones, which includes its sister site in Wigan, has also been selected.

Walton Lea Partnership, which provides work and experience for adults with learning disabilities in a picturesque Victorian walled garden located by Walton Hall, is another charity nearby Warrington to receive a helping hand.

Also benefiting, is the Rainbow Hub, based in Mawdesley, West Lancashire, which is a special school for children and young people with physical disabilities caused by neurological conditions or brain injuries.

Chapelhouse managing director Phil Clay and group finance director Nick Duffield visited the charities to show their appreciation and to take a closer look at how they provide vital care.

The business started out in Dentons Green, St Helens more than 30 years ago and is keen to give back to the communities they serve.

Phil said: “Chapelhouse holds a strong commitment to actively engage with and enhance the well-being of the communities in which we operate.

"Recognising the importance of giving back, we have established impactful partnerships with diverse charitable organisations and local initiatives that address a broad spectrum of community needs.

“Our objective is to contribute positively by actively supporting these commendable causes, channelling resources and efforts into local charities.

"Through these endeavours, we aspire to create a lasting and meaningful difference in the lives of individuals within our immediate communities."
