A WOMAN who was charged after dog attacks at a park last year has appeared in court.

The Star reported last August after women and dogs were attacked by XL Bully dogs at Willow Park, in Newton-le-Willows.

The attacks reportedly took place on August 17, 2023.

Police confirmed that they charged a 44-year-old woman in connection with the incident, who appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court.

Amanda Wilkie, of Southworth Road, Newton-le-Willows, was charged with two counts of being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control and two counts of being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control.

Appearing before magistrates on Wednesday (February 28), she indicated guilty pleas to three of the charges and also pleaded guilty to the other.

Wilkie was remanded on unconditional bail as the case was adjourned with the defendant next due to appear for sentencing on May 28 at Sefton Magistrates' Court, in Bootle.

A court sheet says the adjournment was made due to a contested contingent Destruction Order to allow the owner of the dogs to make representations.
