RUNNERS, spectators and members of the public are urged to bring bags of food to the St Helens 10k to donate to St Helens Food Pantry during the cost-of-living crisis.

The event, which takes place on Sunday, March 3, is one of the highlights of the St Helens calendar and will see more than 1,800 people pounding the Sintellens streets wanting to become a North Road survivor.

The food pantry is asking for donations to try to help the families and individuals most in need in the town and with the help of event organisers The Steve Prescott Charity, aim to collect food at the event.

Talking to the Star about the announcement, SPF general manager Martin Blondel said: “Since the beginning of St Helens Borough Mobile Food Pantry, The Steve Prescott Foundation has fully supported this worthy cause.

“A lot of people who are behind this great initiative helped out with the Eccleston Arms essential items/ St Helens together service during the Covid pandemic and we have kept in touch ever since.

“St Helens are the best people when people are in need, there is no finer community.

“The 10k Run will have over 2,000 people in attendance with athletes and spectators, it would be great if everyone could bring a bag of food with them to help the less fortunate people in the cost of living crisis at the moment.”
