AN independent coffee chain has issued a statement after departing St Helens.
Two Brothers, which was based in the St Helens Book Stop on Bridge Street, announced it would be handing the reins of running the space to the book shop's bosses.
The chain, which has a number of branches across the north west, previously ran a coffee shop on Church Street, St Helens but that closed down due to finanncial issues.
St Helens Book Stop, which has won praise since it opened, has significant plans to expand upstairs in its current premises on Bridge Street to create a community space.
Two Brothers departure means it will now take control of the cafe space too.
In a statement posted on social media Two Brothers wrote: "Today we waved goodbye to St Helens.
"We’ve handed over the cafe in @sthbookstop over to Nick and the team to be the new custodians.
"You’ll still be able to get the same great, locally roasted coffee in store though, with some delicious cakes, bakes and treats!
"We've loved being a part of the St Helens community over the last two and a half years, and are sad to see the shop go, but we’re also excited to see what becomes of the coffee shop under the bookshop's stewardship, with the big plans they have for redeveloping the shop this year!"
"Shout out to our pal @jaystockers for doodling us with The Dream, this wasn’t its intended purpose, but we’re glad it’s managed to get used as a farewell. 👋
