EMILIA Webster was so ready to make an appearance in the world that she was born in Whiston Hospital car park!

The little bundle of joy made such a speedy arrival that mum Lucy couldn’t make it inside the hospital and gave birth to Emilia in the front seat of the car as husband Andrew ran inside to get help.

Emilia was determined to be born on Tuesday, February 6 – she just couldn’t wait to make an appearance.

Lucy was given February 5 as her due date and when she had a sweep that afternoon she was already three centimetres dilated and experiencing strong period pains.

Lucy, who lives in Sutton Leach, said: “I went home to bed and slept.

“Andrew even went to the gym at 6am the following morning while I looked after our little boy Joseph.

“Andrew came home around 7.20am and that’s when I had my first contraction.

“Emilia was born less than an hour later!”

Say hello to the February babies born in St Helens

Andrew’s mum came to look after four-year-old Joseph while Lucy and Andrew made their way to the Whiston Hospital in heavy rush hour traffic.

As soon as Lucy got in the car she knew the baby was going to be born very quickly.

Lucy said: “We only live on Clock Face Road so didn’t have far to go to get to hospital but as soon as I got in the car I couldn’t sit down and felt pressure.

“As Andrew drove to the hospital, I was telling him that she was coming and that I needed to push.

“As we got to The Holt pub and traffic lights near the hospital, I could feel that her head was out.

“Andrew pulled into a parking bay and ran into the hospital to get help and with one final contraction Emilia was born on the front seat of the car.

“We think she was born around 8.20am but we weren’t really paying attention to the time as we were a bit distracted!”

When Andrew returned to the car, Lucy shouted that the baby had arrived and he scooped her up before the midwives came to take them both into hospital.

Lucy said: “Emilia was a very healthy weight – 8lb 8oz.

“She has settled in really well despite her extremely quick arrival and she has completed our family.

“What a dramatic entrance into the world!”
