PLANS seeking outline permission to create eight detached houses on grassland have been drawn up.

Proposals for land adjacent to Peet Meadow, in Rainford, have been submitted to the council planning department.

The site sits off an unadopted cul-de-sac served from Bushey Lane.

The application also seeks permission for landscaping, access and parking, with all other matters reserved.

A design and access statement in the plans by Rainford Property developments Ltd, say the applicant has in recent years obtained permission for two sets of semi-detached houses within the cul-de-sac, known as Peet Meadow.

They have also obtained permission for a bungalow at the front of the site onto Bushey Lane and a substantial extension to a property on Bushey Lane.

Plans add: “We feel that this site will be an attractive expansion to Peet Meadow and offer high-quality housing for Rainford.”

The site is described as “primarily overground grassland with mature and semi-mature trees to the edges”.

The statement adds: “We are seeking to obtain outline planning approval for eight stand alone dwellings within the site.

“We plan to extend the existing access road to serve the new dwellings. This will allow for vehicle and servicing access.

“We will retain the trees to the edges of the site and build within the open section in the middle of the site.

“The proposed houses are a mixture of two-storey and single-storey properties. Each will have access for two parking spaces.

Plans add the site, which spans 1.84 acres, “with its natural beauty and prime location, holds immense potential for development” and that “with careful planning and design, this site can be transformed into a place that blends the best of nature and architecture”.

The plans have received one objection at the time of writing. This said: “I object to the destruction of yet more green space in the village that was not included in the destructive master plan by this council. How many more developments destroying our green spaces?

“We currently have over 77 properties for sale in this small village, which is an enormous amount.”

The application is on standard consultation to the public until Friday, March 15, with a determination deadline set for April 19.
