POLICE have charged a man with attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child.
The Star reported after a 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual offences on Monday evening in Prescot.
Shortly after 4.20pm on Monday, February 12, officers received a report of a concern for the safety of a man in his 50s who had been assaulted.
The man's vehicle had also been damaged and a crowd had gathered in connection to this incident.
Officers attended and a number of people were detained at the scene.
The crowd later dispersed and the man - a 57-year-old from Prescot - was removed from the address.
He was later arrested on suspicion of three offences of causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and taken into custody.

Police today confirmed they have since charged a man in connection with the investigation.
Kevin Wilkes, of Johnson Avenue has been charged with attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause/incite a girl 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity.
The 57-year-old is due to appear before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Thursday.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "A man in Prescot has today (Wednesday, February 14) been charged with attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child.
"Kevin Wilkes, 57 years, of Johnson Avenue has been charged with attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause/incite a girl 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity.
"He has been remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Thursday, February 15."
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man from Whiston, was arrested on Monday following the incident outside the property, on suspicion of possession of a Class B controlled drug (cannabis) and obstructing an officer undertaking a Misuse of Drugs Act search.
He has since been released under investigation.
