STEVE Prescott's youngest son has announced that he will lead the SPF Kilimanjaro Challenge that will take place in late October 2024.
Steve Prescott is a former Saints player and dad-of-two who not only set up the Steve Prescott Foundation to help others, but also underwent a pioneering 32-hour multi-visceral organ transplant after spending seven years battling the rare abdominal cancer pseudomyxoma peritonei - repeatedly defying the odds and inspiring many.
During his life and since his death, the foundation take on mammoth challenges to help others and are no strangers to Mount Kilimanjaro, with the first trek taking place in 2013, the last trek was in 2017.
Also in 2015 the SPF became World Record Holders in 2015 by playing the Worlds highest game of Rugby League.
Koby Prescott, 17, said “My dad was due to tackle Kilimanjaro in 2013 but sadly his health would not allow him to take on the iconic challenge.
"I have heard many stories from previous challenges and seen the incredible footage from 2015 and have always wanted to test myself at the highest free standing mountain in the world.”
"Everest Base Camp and Mount Toubkal were incredible challenges that will live with me forever, I am sure Kilimanjaro will be just as exceptional.
"I hope many more SPF supporters will join me and raise vital funds for The Christie and Rugby League Benevolent Fund.
"We are all so passionate to help those less fortunate than ourselves and want to continue my dad’s astonishing legacy.
"It will be a trip of a lifetime, I cannot wait!”
The challenge will be departing from Manchester on October 21 2024 and be returning on October 30, subject to alteration.
The SPF will be using the same contacts and organisations from previous year’s experiences and all participants will be in safe hands.
