PLAYERS past and present joined supports at St Helens Town AFC for a social event bringing people together.

With a long history in the town dating back to 1901, St-Helens Town AFC continued to make a huge impact in 2023.

Not content with staging a refugee versus community football tournament; hosting a memorable match and football gala at the Totally Wicked Stadium and winning the Community Champion Award at the annual Chamber Business Awards, they topped off the year with, ‘The Talk of the Town’; a social event planned to bring together past players and supporters of St Helen Town AFC.

The Lamb Inn, helped kick things off by sponsoring Town Christmas cards containing an invitation, with the aim of reaching past players and supporters who had lost links with the club over the years.

At a time when too many people are alone or unable to catch up with old friends, the Club could think of no better way to spread some festive cheer.

With more than 30 people attending, sharing stories and news, it was also an opportunity to reunite with old friends and make new ones.

Former player Sammy Leyland said: “Amazing turnout beyond belief! Top afternoon. It was great to see some of the lads from back in the day”.

With plans for more community and cultural projects thrown into the sporting mix, the team behind the scenes at St Helens Town are keen to hear from anyone with links to the Club over the years.
