A PUB that has been through several landlords in recent years has been taken over by a woman determined to bring new life into the venue.

Despite a £400,000 renovation from Punch Pubs in 2017, the Windle pub has had a chequered history in recent times, with a number of landlords and vacant periods restricting the continuity of the Hard Lane boozer.

Taking over the reins of the pub in late October, Rachel Frodsham hopes her wealth of experience can fulfill the Windle's potential and bring it into a new and stable era.

Rachel, from Toll Bar, said: "After being in bar work for years, I really wanted a pub of my own and one that could serve food.

"I took over the pub around ten weeks ago and things have been good so far. It's been picking up closer to Christmas and we're fully booked for meals on Christmas Day.

"We have a good bunch of regulars and darts and dominoes teams that really help us out, and we are looking at new things to try in the new year to bring new people in."

With a large indoor and outdoor drinking space at the Windle, Rachel aims to bring an 'all you can eat' buffet to the venue in the new year, at an affordable price of £12.95.

The pub, which has had its festive decorations put up this weekend, will continue to showcase live sports and host its darts and dominoes teams, and will provide live music, pub quizzes, and bingo nights in the new year to attract new customers.
