HEATHER Small blew guests away at Prescot Parish Church this week, as the M People singer played an intimate show in honour of Willowbrook Hospice and her late friend.

Heather, who is best known for her M People hits such as ‘Search for the Hero and 'One Night in Heaven', performed at the special event on Monday, December 11 to raise vital funds for Willowbrook.

The palliative care hospice, which is cherished by many across the borough, cared for Heather's friend Jonathan Stott in 2022, and the singer wanted to do something special to show her gratitude.

With Jonathon feeling a special connection to his faith at Prescot Parish Church, Heather and his husband Neil thought the one-off show was the perfect setting.

Supported by local artists Tom Loughlin and Olivia Parr, the performers dazzled the 400 lucky ticket holders in the intimate and grand setting of the 800-year-old church.

Tom Loughlin, St Helens’ very own Classical Tenor Male Vocalist opened the evening with his fantastic singing voice and got the crowd in the festive mood with some Christmas songs.

Taking the microphone after Tom, Olivia Parr wowed the church with her beautiful vocals. Willowbrook is also a charity close to Olivia's heart as her Grandmother was a patient at the hospice.

The eagerly awaited performance by Heather Small certainly did not disappoint! In the intimate setting, guests thoroughly enjoyed five of her top hits – ‘One Night in Heaven’, ‘Moving on Up’, ‘Search for a Hero’, ‘Sight for Sore Eyes’ and ‘Proud’.

Heather said: “Thank you to everyone for attending the concert last night in honour of my beloved Jonathan.

!I was blown away by the kindness and the love felt in the room. The energy was radiating. I’d like to wish everyone a peaceful Christmas and New Year”.

Ian Craig, Chairman of Willowbrook Hospice, added: “It really was a night to remember, we are proud to have raised a phenomenal amount for Willowbrook Hospice!

"This would not have been possible without the hard work from our Fundraising Team and the incredible performers that made the evening so special. We would also like to express our thanks to Village Hotel Liverpool for kindly sponsoring the event.

"Thank you to everyone who were able to purchase tickets for the night, we really are so grateful for your continued support!”
