A BELOVED pet dog with an eye for the camera has been selected to feature in a calendar.

Clansman bullterrier Bruce has just beaten off thousands of competitors to star in The World’s Most Enchanting Pets Calendar 2024.

Owner Hazel Standish described Bruce as “a real cheeky chappie family pet with a big heart”.

At eight years old, Bruce has shown his performers’ touch in competitions before.

He won Best in Show and also first and second place at the dog show back at The Dog Barn, in Rainford, in his first competition.

He is also awaiting to hear if he has won a spot to feature in a photo book with PraiseMyPet.com.

Bruce’s show name is Clansman Equalizer Player and perhaps some of the performers’ instinct is in the genes, with his father, also named Bruce, having starred in Crufts.

Bruce has lived with owners Hazel, husband Paul and their 15-year-old daughter Ella, since being a puppy.

Hazel says he has lots of dog friends from Sherdley Park and Sutton Mill Dam, near to where they live.

“He’s really popular in the community, he’s laid back and really chilled out,” added Hazel, who works as a trainee food technician at Hope Academy school.

“He is such a big part of the community around Sherdley Park, and everybody knows him.”

She said they are keeping an eye out for pet modelling opportunities for Bruce to use his talents.

Hazel added: “We are super proud of him, the bull terrier is a popular breed often seen with celebrities like Taylor Swift, Eric Clapton, Lily Allen, Liam Gallagher, Princess Anne and Tom Hardy.

“We all remember the popular family film Oliver Twist with the famous bull terrier bullseye, you never know it could be Bruce’s next starring role!”
