THE third Billinge Christmas Market is set to bring some festive atmosphere to the area.

The event will return to The Masons Arms, in Billinge, this year on Saturday December, 9.

Run by the community and for the community, the event was started as a way of helping local businesses, charities and individuals following the Covid pandemic, and relies completely on volunteers and donations to help make the Market a success.

Organiser Billinge resident Stephanie Fry said: This year we will have a wide range of stalls selling wonderful products by local makers and producers, and Haydock Hedgehog Helpers Rescue and Reach Sled Dog rescue will also be in attendance.

"We are raising money for Teardrops Homelessness charity in St Helens, as well as Billinge Tenants and Residents Association, so any donations to our tombola stall would be much appreciated.

"There will be a brass band, carol singers, children's face painting and of course the main man himself, Father Christmas, with a free present for each child."

The event takes place at the pub on Carr Mill Road, Billinge, from noon to 4pm, with live bands in the pub until 6 pm.

Stephanie added: "We encourage visitors to use public transport or walk to the event, or parking is available just a few minutes walk away at Barrows Farm. All Market information and updates are available on the dedicated Facebook page 'Billinge Community Market.'

"In order to keep this event completely free, we require help and support from the wider community. If you would like to volunteer on the day, or if you can donate to our charity appeal, please get in touch with myself at s.a.fry@hotmail.co.uk or on 07542 499261, and for any other general Christmas Market enquiries."
