A MAN has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a house.

On Wednesday, November 15, a woman in her 60s was found unresponsive inside a house in Cannon Street in Clock Face.

Paramedics attended but the woman was pronounced dead. 

Her next of kin has been informed and a post-mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.

A 68-year-old man from St Helens has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken to custody.

A police cordon has been in place in the area as investigations were carried out.

Stuart Robertson, of Cannon Street, Clock Face, has been charged with murdering his wife, 62 year-old Dawn Robertson.

Robertson, 68, is due to appear at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court this morning, Friday.

After the woman's death, Detective Chief Inspector Allison Woods said: “Our thoughts first and foremost are with the woman’s family following this tragic incident.

“An investigation is underway in the area and our officers are in the early stages of establishing exactly what happened.

“While we have already made an arrest, our specialist officers remain at the scene as we carry out forensic examinations and review any CCTV footage in the area.
