A CAT owner has been left “heartbroken” after finding their beloved pet poisoned

Diane Bradshaw was devastated when family cat Domino was discovered dead in an alleyway near to their home.

The six-year-old male tuxedo cat had gone out for his usual morning walk on Sunday, November 5.

He had been out for about two hours when Diane’s husband Chris went to put the bins out and found Domino collapsed and unresponsive on the wet muddy ground just outside the alley gates on Windle Street and Oxford Street, Cowley Hill.

Diane, who works as a cleaner, said: “We tried to bring him round and called his name.

"There was white foam coming out of his mouth and inside was white, it looked like he had eaten something poisonous, maybe rat poison, we don’t know what happened.

“We don’t believe it’s targeted. We do have a bit of a rat problem around here. We don’t know if he has been in someone’s garden,” added Diane, who has two other cats and a dog in her home.

Domino has been part of the family household since he was taken in while a stray six years ago and Diane says finding him poisoned was “heart-breaking”.

Diane said there have been other incidents of pets in the area being found poisoned and wants to issue a warning to other owners.

Diane, 53, added: “We would just like to ask people to be thoughtful and responsible when disposing of poisonous substances as beloved family pet cats are cruelly dying and leaving their owners heartbroken and devastated.

“We’d like to warn other cat owners in the local area of this tragic and unavoidable death of someone's pet.”
