POLICE have issued CCTV images after reports of a sexual assault on a bus that travelled to St Helens Bus Station.

Merseyside Police hope that the man pictured can help with their enquiries after the incident on Friday, September 29, at around 10.30pm.

It is reported that the incident took place on a Stagecoach bus that had travelled from Queen Square in Liverpool to St Helens Bus Station.

The victim, a young woman, got off the bus on Warrington Road in Prescot while the alleged offender remained on the vehicle.

Since the alleged assault was reported, officers have carried out extensive CCTV examinations and witness enquiries and detectives have issued CCTV images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
Detective Inspector Richie Shillito said: “Incidents such as these can cause serious distress to any victim and are totally unacceptable. Everyone should be able to use public transport in our city and feel safe.”

“The victim was left scared and understandably upset by this man’s awful behaviour and did the right thing in contacting police.

“If you recognise the man pictured then please let us know, as we believe he may hold information vital to our ongoing investigation. 

“If you were on the bus at around 10.30pm on Friday, September 29 or recognise the man then do let us know as any information you hold could support our enquiries.”
