SPOOKY fun. Wellies essential. But a bit too scary for little ones.

The Star was invited to Partridge Lakes' new Halloween trail and, as it’s open to all ages, I went with my two-year-old son and partner.

Despite the rain – and lots and lots of mud – on arrival we were greeted by twinkly lights and food trucks serving delicious dishes, ranging from halloumi to crepes, Vietnamese food (a favourite of all of us – especially the two-year-old).

There were also drink bars and burgers and more, meaning there was no shortage of food and drink.

Next, we braved the rain and joined the trail which featured lots of the usual spooky suspects such as ghosts, floating witches hats, witches flying in the trees and pumpkins...which our toddler loved.

That coupled with the lights and the dragon towards the end of the trail were highlights, alongside the beautiful lakes.

However, what I would say is this is not appropriate for all ages. The trail featured a body hanging from a tree, a very scary animatronic clown and a pumpkin head with smoke that was speaking.

My little boy was very scared right until the he saw the dragon (one of his favourite things) which totally distracted him from being upset at some of the other things.

Now this is a great trail for the family, we saw lots of school aged children really enjoying themselves but in my opinion it’s not for toddlers.

But saying that, the atmosphere was great, the lights and the trail itself were well thought out and the food was lovely….just maybe leave the little kids at home for this event.

Partride Lakes Fishery are open from 7am to 4.30pm seven days a week and is on Glaziers Ln, Culcheth, Warrington.

The Halloween trail has now finished.
