A NURSE who tried to save the life of a beloved young man has spoken of the traumatic hospital scene as his family still fights for justice.

Back in 2017, 29-year-old Adam Ellison was out celebrating with friends in Prescot as he was planning to get engaged to his girlfriend.

Following a brief altercation with two men on a scrambler bike, Adam was stabbed in the neck and his life was cruelly taken away in an instant.

Adam's sudden death devastated his family, who, alongside dealing with trauma and grief, have continued to fight for justice as no one has ever been charged with murder.

As tomorrow (November 4) marks the sixth anniversary of his passing, his family, the police, and now a hospital nurse who tried to save Adam's life, have come together to plead for information related to the killing.

Debbie Scott, a theatre nurse at Whiston hospital, has joined the appeal to try and let people understand what the family has been through and what they witnessed on the night Adam was killed.

Debbie, who knew Adam's sisters Nicola and Joanne, said: "It was like a warzone in that hospital room. Adam had lost a lot of blood and there was blood everywhere.

"The team was amazing and they really did everything they could to save him, but it got to a point where they had to stop and tell the family.

"The harrowing screams you heard that night were just utterly devastating.

"Nicola and Joanne were punching Adam's chest saying 'you will not die Adam, you cannot die, please don't die Adam', but it was too late.

"I knew the family and they remind me much like my own, with two girls and one boy, which made everything worse, and if you have never been through something like this, you will never truly understand.

"It still haunts me to this day and it has taken me a long time to do this, but I want to help in any way to get justice for the family.

"Maybe the person who did this has a child now, and I just want them to think of losing their child in this way, and encourage them to do the right thing."

As well as their public appeals and fight for justice, Adam's family has also launched the 'Adam Foundation' since his death, to deliver talks to schools and community groups about the consequences of knife crime.

Intending to prevent further acts of knife crime and senseless deaths, this has given the family some comfort in the years that have passed.

However, as they know that Adam's killer still roams free, the pain and grief is still a huge burden to his parents, sisters, family and friends.

Adam's mum, Joyce, said: "Adam was a kind, generous, loving son, who had everything going for him, and we all miss him so much.

"People often say that I'm strong but they don't see me behind closed doors. It is so hard to live without him but I have got to be strong for my daughters and get justice for Adam."

Nicola added: "It doesn't get any easier but we will never stop, ever, because Adam mattered and someone deserves to be accountable for this.

"He was our baby brother and we will keep his name alive and tell his story until always tell his story until we get justice."

Pleading to anyone who may have information about what happened that night or who was involved, his sister Joanne added: "If people could feel our pain and trauma over the past six years, just for one day, they would come forward.

"We don't want anybody else to go through what we have gone through so we need justice now."

Although numerous lines of enquiry have been carried out as part of the police investigation, including 12 arrests, hundreds of witness interviews, and thousands of hours of CCTV footage, nobody has been charged with the murder of Adam.

With the investigation still open and officers using new techniques to look into potential evidence, the police are supporting Adam’s family in urging people to break their silence and help bring his killer to justice.

The charity Crimestoppers - which is independent of the police and guarantees anonymity - has also offered a reward of up to £20,000 for information they exclusively receive that leads to a murder conviction.

Detective Inspector Dave Jones said: “I can’t begin to comprehend what Adam’s family have been through in the past six years.

"The special occasions and anniversaries that have gone by without him being there and with his family knowing that his killer still walks the street must be unbearable.

"We know over the years that people have come forward with intelligence that has assisted us with a number of lines of enquiry but we need people to come forward with evidence.

"We know that the answers lie within our communities and that people have chosen to stay quiet.

"To those people I would say please search your conscience. Tell us what you know and let us do the rest. Adam’s family don’t deserve to be left in limbo without ever getting any justice.

"If you don’t want to speak to the police then please get in touch with Crimestoppers and give your information totally anonymously.”
