TWO pedestrians were rushed to hospital this afternoon after a serious collision in Liverpool city centre.

A car is reported to have collided with two pedestrians on Roe Street, by Queen Square bus station and the Royal Court Theatre, at around 3.50pm on Sunday, October 29.

A large police and emergency service presence was seen in the city centre, with the entire bus station initially cordoned off while officers dealt with the incident.

Both victims were taken to hospital following the incident, with the woman suffering a "serious head injury".

The driver of the car is reported to have remained at the scene to assist with enquiries, while traffic was affected due to the cordon and bus diversions.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "A spokeswoman for the force said: "Officers remain on Queen Square in Liverpool after a collision this afternoon (Sunday 29 October). At around 3.50pm we received a report of a collision involving a blue SEAT Ateca and two pedestrians near the bus station.

"A man and a woman who sustained a serious head injury after the collision have both been taken to hospital for further treatment. The driver of the car remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.
