MEET Layla, a six-year-old pooch who has spent the majority of her life under the care of the RSPCA.

Layla was handed over to the Warrington, Halton, and St Helens branch on Slutchers Lane, Warrington after her needs were not met in her previous home.

She has spent nearly 600 days at the shelter.

At first, the Dobermann was extremely anxious. But she was put on medication to help combat this – which she will need to be weaned off.

Before coming into the care of the RSPCA, Layla had only ever met a small selection of people and had never even met another dog.

She didn’t know how to walk on a lead properly and was not trained.

But staff at the animal charity have worked incredibly hard to help Layla.

They have shown her what love truly is.

Layla now walks on a halti which allows her to take in the scenery and helps her with her anxious moments.

Layla has ‘improved massively’ around other animals and can walk with other dogs, however, it is advised a muzzle is carried with her at all times which she will ‘happily wear’.

Staff at the Warrington branch say Layla is ‘extremely motivated’ by food and will do ‘almost anything for scrumptious biscuits’.

The RSPCA team feels the pooch is best suited to an adult-only home with no other pets and previous experience with Dobermanns or large working breeds.
