A WOMAN has been arrested after an incident on St Helens Linkway over the weekend.

At around 4.30pm on Saturday, October 14, residents reported that police had closed the Linkway in both directions around the Steve Prescott Bridge.

Merseyside Police have confirmed that the emergency services attended the scene, but a woman was arrested on suspicion of intentionally causing a public nuisance.

No injuries are reported from the incident, with the road reopened once the arrest was made.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: " We were called to a report of concern for the safety of a woman on a bridge above Linkway East at around 4.30pm on Saturday, October 14.

"Emergency services attended at the scene.

"A 38 year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of intentionally/recklessly cause a public nuisance.

"She has been released under investigation."
