FOUR schools and colleges have been nominated in the Educate Awards shortlist.

Founded in 2012, the annual event is the largest education ceremony of its kind and brings together the finest schools, colleges, leaders and staff across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, and Greater Manchester.

Celebrating the top performers in the education sector, more than 75 entries have made the shortlist from across the North West.

With the ceremony set to take place on Friday, November 17, at Liverpool Cathedral, Ascent Autism Specialist College, Hope Academy, Rainford High, Rainhill High, and Cowley International College have all been nominated.

Ascent Autism Specialist College, on Wargrave Road in Newton-le-Willows, has been nominated for the 'Outstanding Commitment to the Environment', 'Leadership Team of the Year', and 'Most Inspirational Sixth Form & College' awards.

Hope Academy, on Ashton Road in Newton, has been nominated for the 'Careers and Enterprise' award.

Rainford High, on Higher Lane in Rainford, has been nominated for 'Outstanding Arts in Secondary School', 'Outstanding Commitment to Sport in Secondary School', and 'Most Inspirational Secondary School'.

Rainhill High, on Warrington Road in Rainhill, and Cowley International College, on Hard Lane in Windle, has also been nominated for 'Outstanding Commitment to Sport in Secondary School'.

Founder of the Educate Awards, Kim O’Brien, said: “Congratulations to the schools and colleges that have made the shortlist! The feedback from judges has been brilliant, with many commenting on the high standard of entries and how it is getting harder and harder for them to decide each year.
