When did you open the business?

I have accumulated a decade of experience in working with makeup, consistently practicing makeup artistry for the past five years on a full-time basis.

Has it always been in the same location?

No, I initially began working from my home but later opted to gain more visibility by operating in a salon environment. However, I have consistently found myself returning home as my client base demonstrated a preference for receiving services in a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere, as opposed to a bustling salon environment. Also, due to certain health conditions that significantly impact my mobility, I find it more convenient and practical for me to work from home.

Are you local to the area? Did you grow up here?

I was born and raised in Salford, in Greater Manchester. However, it has been seven years since I moved to St Helens in search of a fresh start and a more relaxed environment, away from the bustling city life. St Helens is truly a lovely and peaceful town.

How did the Covid-19 pandemic affect your business?

Before the pandemic hit, I was in a salon. Unfortunately, due to being a close contact service, I had to close my business temporarily. However, once the government gave the green light, I jumped at the chance to reopen. I must admit, I was pretty nervous about whether my business would make it through, but it did! I attribute its success to my amazing and loyal clients. They truly came through for me and I'm forever grateful to them.

What makes your business different to others in the same area/field?

I've had the pleasure of devoting countless years to perfecting my craft and honing my skills as an artist. It's been an incredible journey filled with passion and relentless dedication. I genuinely take pride in my work and strive to be the best artist that I can be. Just like any true artist, I pour my heart and soul into every makeup look I create. My business means the world to me and I'm absolutely committed to its success.

What sets your business apart from your competitors?

I possess a strong focus on detail and precision in my work. I utilise high-end cosmetic products from well-known brands like NARS, MAC and Charlotte Tilbury to curate exceptional makeup looks. I actively stay up-to-date with current trends in the industry and consistently explore innovative techniques. My commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment is a priority for me. For instance, I diligently utilise disposable lip and mascara wands and ensure that all brushes and cosmetics are thoroughly sanitised for each client.

Why do loyal clients return to your business?

My clients absolutely love the way they look after I work my magic! Not only do they receive countless compliments when they go out but they also enjoy the relaxed and laid back atmosphere I create during their appointments. I am always there for them just like they are for me. I am reliable, flexible and understanding and I thoroughly enjoy engaging in conversations and attentively listening to my clients as they share their unique experiences. I have a genuine concern for the well-being of my clients and truly enjoy the entire experience.

What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your salon?

In the future, I aspire to host masterclasses with the aim of demonstrating my makeup skills to a wider audience in St Helens. These masterclasses would serve as an opportunity for individuals to learn and enhance their prowess in makeup application techniques.
