POLICE said they clocked nearly 30 drivers travelling in excess of the speed limit during checks at a busy road on Saturday.
Officers from Merseyside Roads Policing Unit were out on Birchley Road, Billinge, on September 30.
They said that 28 speeding vehicles were detected on the 40mph limit stretch, including one going at 66mph.
Meanwhile, a motorbike was also seen overtaking at 57mph.

Officers said on Saturday afternoon: "We’ve been out in StHelens today, Birchley Road, Billinge.
"28 drivers reported for excess speed, highest being 66 / 40 also a motorbike overtaking at 57 / 40.
"There have been numerous serious injury and fatal RTCs at this location."
