POLICE were called after reports that a man was seen with a suspected firearm.
Officers descended on the scene after a suspect was seen on a path near to Boardmans Lane, Blackbrook, on Monday afternoon, September 25, at around 4pm.
A police cordon put in place as officers conducted searches in the vicinity.
A police spokeswoman said an “extensive search of the area” was carried out, though nothing was found.
The male suspect was described as tall, of slim build and wearing a black Nike baseball cap, a dark blue or black Nike jacket, dark shorts and was said to be carrying a Lidl plastic bag.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that at around 4pm yesterday, Monday 25 September, we received a report that a male had been seen with a suspected firearm on the path near to Boardmans Lane in St Helens.
“Officers attended and an extensive search of the area was carried out with a cordon in place, and nothing was found.
“The male was described as tall, slim build and wearing a black Nike baseball cap, dark blue/black Nike jacket, dark shorts and carrying a Lidl plastic bag.
“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to DM @MerPolCC call 101 with log 638 of September 25.
“Or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
“Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.”
