AN ITALIAN and Indian restaurant is celebrating a year in St Helens with a new offer at its town centre space.

With chefs that specialise in authentic Italian and Indian cuisines, the Green Olive opened as "something different" last September.

The family behind the Green Olive chose the former Byroney's Bistro site on George Street as a "good location" in St Helens town centre, after decades of experience in takeaways and restaurants across Merseyside.

The authentic Italian and Indian dishes have gone down a treat with the restaurant's regular customers, staff say, although business has been tough after the difficulties of the cost of living crisis, with the price of food and electricity continuing to rise.

The business owner, Ahmad Faisal, from Oldham, also felt that the restaurant was suffering as it did not have the necessary licence to serve alcohol with its meals.

Staff said that potential customers often came into the George Street venue but left after realising that they did not serve alcohol.

In an attempt to reverse this trend, business owners applied for an alcohol licence from St Helens Council and this was authorised just weeks before the business' first anniversary in the town.

To celebrate the granting of the alcohol licence and the business' first year in St Helens, the Green Olive is offering a 50% discount on all meals this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and on the same days next week.

Takeaway customers can also receive 30% off their order by using the Green Olive app or website, while special offers are also available at the restaurant on Sundays.
