SHOPPERS have been queuing up today to grab bargains at the town centre Poundland shop’s last day of trading.

The store, at Church Square Shopping Centre, is set to close to make way for the relocation of TJ Hughes which is moving in from the Hardshaw Centre.

Signage has been placed in the windows of the unit advertising ‘Massive Reductions’ on products with the store set to close today.

TJs’ move comes due to the Hardshaw Centre being set to be demolished as part of the regeneration plans for St Helens town centre.

TJ Hughes’ move will see it sit alongside the likes of Boots, H Samuel and River Island in the shopping centre.

Meanwhile, Poundland says it will continue to welcome shoppers at its store on Ravenhead Retail Park.

A Poundland spokesman said today: “We’re disappointed to have to leave this store – sadly the landlord made other plans for the unit.

“We have another store a few minutes away at Ravenhead Retail Park so look forward to welcoming shoppers there.”
