A MURAL covering the history of women in St Helens and the impact women have on our lives has been installed in Parr.
The ‘Strong Women’ mural, on the side of The Connie Club on Broad Oak Road, was made by internationally recognised artist Carrie Reichardt who used a mix of mural, mosaic and screen-printing techniques to create the mural.

Carrie, who famously mosaiced her entire house in London, has been working with the community to create two new pieces of large scale street art both in Parr and elsewhere in Knowsley.

Collaborators in St Helens have attended a number of workshops, including sessions at Parr Children’s Centre, The Connie Club and St Mary's Care Home.

The Strong Women programme is made possible by money raised by National Lottery players distributed through The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Anna Kronenburg, Producer, Creative People and Places said: "It's been fantastic to have the opportunity to work with Carrie and over 450 members of the community on this public art work for Parr.
"Carrie's experience and commitment to telling the untold history of local women has really inspired everyone and working with the Conservative Club has been a real pleasure"
