POLICE arrested a man after finding an offensive weapon and an imitation firearm at a property.

Officers made the arrest after reportedly finding the weapons at an address in Whiston on Friday, July 7.  

A 35-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

In a statement on Saturday, police said: "The Knowsley Team arrested a 35-year-old man in Whiston yesterday, after finding an offensive weapon and an imitation firearm at a property.

"He remains in custody.

"Help us take weapons off the street.
