POLICE are hunting a motorist who drove off from the scene after hitting a teenage cyclist.

The teenager was injured after the collision on Langbar, Whiston, on Thursday afternoon, June 15.

Police confirmed that inquiries are ongoing to find the driver of a car which "failed to stop" at the scene.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We can confirm we received a report of a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a car in Whiston this afternoon.

"At around 4pm it was reported that a teenage cyclist had sustained minor injuries after colliding with a car on Langbar.

"The driver failed to stop at the scene and our inquiries are ongoing to locate him.
