A WOMAN who took over a shop in Earlestown has shared how the business is 'doing really well'.

Linda Williams from Wargrave became the new owner of Gifts and Gadgets in April, with Linda sharing that the business has received a positive response from locals.

The Market Street shop sells a range of items including gifts, cards, and baby products.

Linda said: "It’s doing really well; the baby stuff is doing excellent, and sales are up.

"I’m happy with the way it’s going; the shop’s looking full now.

"Everyone’s been really nice and customer-wise we’ve had excellent feedback."

The 59-year-old also detailed how her taking over the business was "meant to be" after she discovered her late mum Vera Pilling, who passed away in 2019, had worked at the store more than 30 years before.

She added: "It’s special to me because my mum used to work here over 30 years ago; unfortunately, she’s no longer with us.

"I had forgotten she used to work here, and on the Thursday morning when I walked in, there was a white feather on the floor.

"I’m not sure if I believe in stuff like that, but it was so strange that the white feather was there."

Linda is also hoping to organise a raffle event at the store with a Charlie Bear up for grabs.

The money raised during the raffle will go towards the business, as well as supporting local organisations Business for Youth and Newton Community Centre.
